Being a doula means not only taking on an exciting and caring profession, it means starting up your own small business. What many doula training's often leave out is how to go about writing a solid contract that fits the needs of you and your clients and protects you from the ups and downs of this work. This 3 hour contract writing workshop taught by a doula with a background in legal research and freelance contract writing will help you create an individualized contract that covers all your bases. This class is great for any newer doula, or any doula who feels they need some extra guidance on adjusting their contract.
Emily has been a birth and postpartum doula for over 6 years, working with over 100 families in the childbearing year in 4 states, 15 hospitals, birth centers abroad, home births, hospital births, and helping to start volunteer programs around the country. She has a background in Human Rights Law and international legal research, which is what originally brought her to birth work out of college. Helping to build the next generation of doulas is her current passion. In this vein, she has been working with Doulas by the Bay to build an incredible Apprenticeship Program they'll be launching this summer as well as starting a series of doula workshops focused on building better business and self-care skills.
