Do you have room in heart to support San Francisco’s foster youth?
Today’s event brings together three agencies that provide support for San Francisco’s most vulnerable youth, San Francisco Family and Children’s Services, San Francisco CASA, and Braid Mission. These agencies are in need of individuals and families to give their time in order to make a difference in a child’s life.
San Francisco Family and Children’s Services needs families in the City of San Francisco to care for foster children. Almost 1,000 children in San Francisco are in foster care. We have a shortage of resource families, so over half of foster children from San Francisco are placed in homes outside of the county. San Francisco’s foster youth need caregivers in San Francisco, from all neighborhoods, ethnic and religious backgrounds, whether you are single, married, have a same sex partner, rent/own, are employed/unemployed, to open their hearts and homes. Come and learn more about fostering a child in San Francisco.
San Francisco Court Appointed Special Advocates (SFCASA) is looking for volunteers who are ready to be the voice of a San Francisco foster youth. SFCASA serves as a voice for some of the most vulnerable children in San Francisco. SFCASA volunteers work with a foster youth's family and support services team to ensure the young person receives the critical support services they deserve by providing them with a volunteer advocate, an everyday citizen who champions their best interests and fights for their right to a happy, safe life. SFCASA volunteers gave 20,000 hours to support 263 youth in care! http://www.sfcasa.org/
San Francisco Family and Children’s Services (SF FCS) provides services to ensure that children are safe from abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation. FCS is committed to improving the safety, permanency, and well-being of San Francisco’s most vulnerable youth and families. FCS needs families in the City of San Francisco to care for foster children. If you have room in your heart and home, become a foster parent – we need you! Braid Mission is a non-profit organization whose intergenerational mentoring program is designed to support Bay Area youth who have experienced life in the foster care system. Braid believes in the importance of surrounding foster youth with a community and love and support. Braid mentors work in teams to surround foster youth with a community of love, care, and hope, setting them on a path toward healing from the wounds of foster care. By being a listening ear, a consistent presence, and a safe space, you help restore a sense of self in foster youth by reminding them of their inner strength, beauty, and dignity. Come and learn how to dive into the transformative work of mentoring, and be part of a supportive network built upon deep relationships and shared vision. https://braidmission.org/
